The Gladers are a group of twenty kids who have been living in a concrete maze for two years. They are the immune survivors of a plague caused by a solar flare. The Gladers are unaware of the plague and don’t understand the purpose of the maze or why they live the way they do. The Gladers are in fact, part of an experiment to find out how their immunity can be passed on to people still suffering the ravages of the plague that came to be called ‘Flare’.

Who Are the Gladers in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials
There is something inside the brains of the Gladers that the researchers have dubbed the ‘Killzone’ for the way that it kills the Flare virus. By subjecting the Gladers to the rigors of the maze and the other trials they are subjected to, scientists from company known as the World In Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department or WICKED, hope to map out these Killzones and save what remains of humanity.
The problem is that the Gladers are the victims of the experiments and most of them have no consciousness of them at all. They are terrified prisoners in a sick medical experiment that seeks to cure a disease initially caused by WICKED who is just cleaning up their mess. The Gladers are split into two groups. Most of the people are in group A. The ones of the most note are Thomas, who is the protagonist, Newt and Alby who are in supportive roles and Minho who control much of the society of the maze. Teresa is the first girl in the story and she arrives the day after Thomas and lapses in and out of consciousness for the first few days.

More Gladers are introduced in Group B later on as well which forms an antagonist other than the Grievers for the Gladers. The Grievers are a deadly force that patrol the maze and later on penetrate to the Glader’s relative safety at the heart of the maze.
After the arrival of first Thomas and then Teresa everything changes for the Gladers. The doors to the maze that used to seal the Grievers out each night stay open and hoards of Grievers attack the Gladers. Thomas and Teresa are blamed for the attacks and they are tied up on stakes at the doors to the maze. Gally in particular blames Thomas and his anger results in the death of Chuck. Chuck was one of the younger Gladers who formed a fast friendship to Thomas. Chuck threw himself on the bullet intended for Thomas. Immediately after Gally is killed with a knife to the chest. It is only after that they escape the maze and find that they have only passed the first trial.
I’ve never read the books or seen the movies, but I’m going to start the books soon. After that, I’ll hit the movies. They look good!
I saw the first movie Maze Runners and can’t wait to see the next one. Sounds like the story will continue, I can’t wait to see what happens in the movie.
I haven’t seen any of these yet, or read them. I just started hearing about them recently, it sounds like something that might be even better if you’ve read the books so you know all of the back story.
I still need to see the first one! I have 5 days left until the sequel comes out – gotta find it now!
I have to admit I have never seen this… But it does look pretty cool, I will have to check this out, I am sure my husband and I would like it.
