War for the Planet of the Apes is a sci-fi movie that is set to hit theaters on July 14, 2017. It is the sequel to the 2014 movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. 1- The movie is the 9th film in the Planet of the Apes film franchise, which started way back in 1968. The other 8 are:
- 1968- Planet of the Apes
- 1970- Beneath the Planet of the Apes
- 1971- Escape from the Planet of the Apes
- 1972- Conquest of the Planet of the Apes
- 1973- Battle for the Planet of the Apes
- 2001- Planet of the Apes (remake)
- 2011- Rise of the Planet of the Apes
- 2014- Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
2- Only 3 actors have appeared in all 3 movies of the reboot trilogy: Andy Serkis, as Caesar; Terry Notary, as Rocket and Karin Konoval, as Maurice.
3- The director of War for the Planet of the Apes is Matt Reeves, who also directed the 2008 movie Cloverfield (trailer below) and the 2010 movie Let Me In. In addition, Reeves was the co-writer for the 1995 movie Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, the 1996 movie The Pallbearer and the 2000 movie The Yards.
4- Andy Serkis, who plays the role of Caesar, announced on October 7, 2016, at the New York Comic Con, that War for the Planet of the Apes will release a video game, in which he will be performing motion capture.
5- The music composer and soundtrack writer for War for the Planet of the Apes is Michael Giacchino, who was also the composer and writer for the 2014- Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. In addition, Giacchino also composed the musical score of movies such as the 2004- The Incredibles, the 2009- Up, the 2012- John Carter and the 2015- Jupiter Ascending.
6- The character of Nova was actually named after the character played by Linda Harrison way back in the first two films of the original Planet of the Apes franchise.
7- A fourth movie in the rebooted franchise has already been announced. Hmmm, does that mean we should expect a cliffhanger? I guess the apes aren’t done with us yet!

I had no idea that there were so many movies in this franchise. I really thought it was just Planet of the Apes and then one or two sequels. I haven’t watched these movies myself but I know lots of people love them!
