Last night’s Voice Season 9 Top 10 episode was a big event! Here were are with our final ten contestants. One was eliminated at the end of the night, leaving us with the top 9. Who was it? Check out our recap to find out!
Voice Season 9 Top 10 Recap: Performance Highlights and Results
Jeffrey– Team Gwen- Jealous by Labrinth- Jeffrey decided to choose this song in order to showcase his vulnerable side. He is wearing a suit for his performance, a good look for him. He has just an incredible voice, always delivers emotions in his songs and hits the notes right on target. He is one to contend with.
Emily– Team Blake- She’s Got You by Patsy Cline- Blake gave her the guitar, signed, that she is playing tonight. In fact, he gave a guitar to everyone on his team. What a guy! Last minute, Blake suggested she and the band not use guitars at all tonight. Without an instrument, Emily can focus on her vocals. She delivers a solid performance, but I thought last week’s was a lot better. Also, she seems a bit awkward on stage, something for her to work on.
Braiden– Team Gwen- Radioactive by Imagine Dragons- I like Braiden and I like his voice but this is a bog song, too big for him in my opinion. Gwen suggested he cut his hair, which he did and it looks decent. For part of his performance, Braiden went to sing in the audience, which was neat.
Shelby– Team Adam- Go Rest High on That Mountain by Vince Gill- This song has special meaning for Shelby because her grandfather loved Vince Gill and the song was played at his funeral. Wow! This is a very powerful song, and she totally nailed it! Her vocals were right on target, and she sang with so much emotion.
Korin– Team Gwen- Same Old Love by Selena Gomez- While this is an emotional song, Gwen suggested that Korin make it a bit sassy. She actually didn’t do too bad with her performance. She is giving it all she has and not holding back as I have seen from her in the past. I do think that she needs to work on her stage presence though.
Amy- Team Adam- Bye Bye Bye by NSYNC- Amy is a huge fan of NSYNC so she is excited to perform this song tonight. I have to say I was not impressed by Amy’s performance tonight. She just really changed up the song too much. The band was playing too dominant at times, drowning out her voice. She didn’t do a good job hitting the notes either.
Jordan– Team Adam- Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen- I respect the fact that Jordan wanted to choose this song, but the problem is that it has been done way too many times before. I like how the stage was set up with white lights, white staircase and fog machine. Very fitting for this song. I have seen so many other people over-sing this song, which is so easy to do, but Jordan didn’t do that. It was a great performance.
Zach– Team Blake- Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen- Blake tells Zach that he needs to pull out all the stops on this performance. I think that is Blake’s nice way of saying that unless you do well tonight, you will be eliminated sooner rather than later. Well, apparently Zach wasn’t paying attention when Blake said this because his performance was terrible. It was dull, boring and lackluster. It sounded much like elevator music.
Madi– Team Pharrell- Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper- This song is one of Madi’s favorites. She is the only one left from Pharrell’s team so he really wants her to nail it tonight. Madi did not disappoint. Her vocals were off the charts, her phrasing was on target and the overall performance was just alluring. Team Pharrell isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Barrett– Team Blake- I’d Just Love to Lay you Down by Conway Twitty- Conway Twitty is from Arkansas, Barrett’s home state. I like the fact that he had a fireplace roaring in back of him. It gave the song such a special touch. It was a good performance although I have seen better from Barrett. But, all in all it was a decent solid performance for him.
Top 10 Results
So, here were are once again with the elimination of the night. So, basically everyone was saved except for Braiden and Korin. They have to duke it out for the insta-save tonight. They are both on Team Gwen so either way she is losing a member of her team tonight.
Korin- Team Gwen- Try by Colbie Callat- Well, this is starting off well…kidding…she is forgetting most of the words. She is totally blowing this song and I think she just blew her chance to stay in the competition for another week. At one point in the song, she just completely stops singing. Are you kidding me? She doesn’t deserve to be in the competition if she is going to mess up that bad, in my opinion.
Braiden- Team Gwen- Harder to Breath by Maroon 5- Well, this isn’t any better but at least he isn’t forgetting the words. Kind of weird that he is on Gwen’s team and singing one of Adam’s songs. He is so totally off-key, off-pitch, off-everything.
So, time to vote America! America has saved Braiden so that means that Korin is eliminated from the competition. Good call America!
