Elsa from Frozen and Katniss from The Hunger Games definitely made braiding your hair a must do the last few years, and I couldn’t be happier!
There are some amazing braids out there from the classic French braid to side braids and the fun waterfall braids.
A lot of them look a lot harder than they actually are. Spend some time practicing before the first day back to school and you’ll be able to easily manage one of these styles. These braids for summer are perfect for back to school styles.
2. Natural makeup looks.

There are so many different makeup trends out there with contouring, crazy shaping of eyebrows and all kinds of wild colors.
The thing is, as a teenager you don’t need all of that to cover up aging or scars. Most of us have decent skin and can get away with just a little powder and mascara.
Embrace some amazing natural makeup looks, and if you have to go with more than that to cover acne, do so tastefully.
Need some help finding the perfect palette? You can’t go wrong with Urban Decay!
3. Add funky statement pieces.
This is especially good if you wear uniforms to school. Funky bright or unique statement pieces are the best choices.
Bright colors, big sizes or unique handmade items are the best to add your own signature style to your basic wardrobe of uniform pieces.
It’s hard to give you recommendations here because statement jewelry, by definitions, makes a very personal statement! Still, here are a few pieces that I just love:

4. Wear lots of layers.
From leggings under dresses to scarves, hats and cardigans, layers are in. They don’t just make you look pulled together, they’re also comfy and functional!
During the fall, layers are a must around here. We go from coat weather to t-shirt weather and back again throughout the day.
Back to school layers in clothing will be your number one beauty asset. You’ll feel confident and be dressed appropriately for school dress code.
5. Go Bold on Just One Feature
The bold 1980s look is making a comeback, and I’m not sure that’s a good thing! In the 80s, everyone was all about bold everything. From bright blue eye shadow and deep red lips to ginormous hair and arms full of jelly bracelets, it was definitely a high-maintenance era!
Instead of going overboard (which, incidentally, is the name of a popular 80s movie!), pick one feature to really play up. I love the look above, with vivid eyes but subtler lips and hair!
These back to school beauty ideas for teens are basic ways to keep you looking and feeling great. You don’t have to do much to reflect your natural beauty, but these ideas will help keep you looking and feeling on top of the world.
Embrace your own style, beauty and sense of fashion and roll with it. No need to wear something you don’t like, or wear more makeup than you want to just because it is trendy.
The real beauty comes from being yourself inside and out.

If a teen would really want to wear make up, I think the best is the “no make up make up look.” Use natural colors, light pink lipstick and keep your hair neat.

The best beauty advice I got as a teen was to wear makeup that looked like I wasn’t wearing any, and to make sure whatever I did to my face I also did to my neck, like lotion.
Great tips! I never thought about beauty stuff for the girls, thankfully they aren’t near teenage years yet. not sure how I’d feel about doing it either, but great tips to go by!
