Nick & Sharna Waltz- Dancing with the Stars -Season 21- 09/28: #DWTS

DANCING WITH THE STARS - SHARNA BURGESS - The celebrity cast of "Dancing with the Stars" is lacing up their ballroom shoes and getting ready for their first dance on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. Nick Carter is partnered with Sharna Burgess. (ABC/Craig Sjodin)

This week at Dancing with the Stars, season 21, week 3 : the couples were dancing to television theme songs. Season 19 winner, Alfonso Ribeiro, is the guest judge. Last week Victor and Karina were eliminated.

Here is our recap of Dancing With The Stars Season 21- Week 3:

  • Carlos and Whitney performed a jazz routine to The Golden Girls. Overall, I thought this was a good dance but Carlos does need some work on his movements still. They received a score of 8 from all the judges except Carrie Ann, who gave them a 7. Alfonso thought the dance was good but Carlos didn’t have enough energy, Julianne said the dance was fun and creative, Bruno thought they were in-sync while Carrie Ann still isn’t impressed with the way Carlos dances.
  • Paula and Louis performed a samba routine to Gilligan’s Island. I am not much of a fan of hers and tonight’s performance pretty much proves why. She had some of the easiest steps and she still performed crappy. She complains too much, makes one too many excuses and constantly blabbers on and on. Really hoping she is eliminated soon. They received a score of all 5’s from the judges. Alfonso is proud of her, Julianne wasn’t impressed with her performance, Bruno said it was too flat and Carrie Ann liked her spirit.
  • Tamar and Val performed a tango routine to Mad Men. I was impressed with their chemistry this week as I didn’t think they really had much in the past weeks. They received scores of 9’s from Alfonso and Julianne and 8’s from Bruno and Carrie Ann. Alfonso said Tamar was a frontrunner, Julianne called it a refreshing dance, Bruno advised her to be careful of top line and Carrie Ann called the dance “must-see television.”
  • Alexa and Mark performed a jazz routine to Breaking Bad. Wow! Alexa does an amazing job with this dance. She kept up with same rather difficult moves. I totally commend Mark on his great choreography. They received a score of 9’s from all four judges. Alfonso called it awesome, Julianne and Bruno loved it and Carrie Ann called it genius.
  • Andy and Allison performed a quickstep routine to American Bandstand. Well, the judges and I didn’t agree on this dance. I thought the dance was amazing and that Andy kept up well with the dance steps. However, Alfonso said his posture wasn’t right, Julianne thought it was fun but agrees with Alfonso, Bruno said his moves need to be cleaned up while Carrie Ann thought Andy was in his head too much. Julianne gave them a score of 8 while the other three gave them 7’s.
  • Gary and Anna performed a tango routine to The Addams Family. I have to say I am totally impressed with Gary this week. He has improved and is actually doing the steps to the tango. Usually, he is just floating around the dance floor missing the majority of the dance steps. They received a score of 7 from Alfonso and 6’s from the other three judges. Alfonso said Gary was fun to watch, Julianne said he definitely improved, Bruno said he actually did the tango steps while Carrie Ann saw a newly found elegance.
  • Alek and Lindsay performed a tango routine to True Blood. Let me tell you, for someone who has never danced in his life, Alek has come a long way in just a couple of weeks. He did a great job with the tango, especially his footwork. Julianne gave them a score of 9 while the other three judges gave them 8’s. Alfonso said Alek danced like a hero tonight, Julianne said he had the best technique out of all the contestants, Bruno said he is improving and Carrie Ann loves to watch him dance.
  • Kim and Tony were eliminated from the competition this week. Kim suffered a mini stroke last week. Tony did perform a dance this week with Jenna, a troupe member. Kim appeared on the show via Skype and said she feels great. However, the rules state that if a dancer cannot dance, for whatever reason, they are out of the competition.
  • Bindi and Derek performed a quickstep routine to The Jeffersons. I love Bindi and she and Derek are still my favorite to win. They had originally chosen The Jetsons but the song wasn’t cleared so they had to make a switch. Neither Bindi nor Derek had ever seen The Jeffersons. Also, Bindi was in pain tonight but let me tell you, no one noticed. She did an excellent job with this fast paced dance. They received scores of 8’s from all four judges. Alfonso loved her, Julianne said it wasn’t her best dance, Bruno loved the energy but there was too much bounce and Carrie Ann called Bindi a solid competitor.
  • Nick and Sharna performed a Viennese waltz routine to Downtown Abbey. Nick did a great job tonight. I thought this was one of his best dances so far. Sharna is a great choreographer and it showed in tonight’s dance. They received scores of 9’s from all four judges. Alfonso said the performance was close to perfect, Julianne called it the best dance of the night, Bruno said it was “Masterpiece Theater” and Carrie Ann loved it.
  • Hayes and Emma performed a jive routine to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Here is another instance where I didn’t agree with the judges. I thought Hayes did great with the dance, especially with his footwork. However, Alfonso thought he lost some energy halfway through the dance, Julianne told him he needs to become more aware of Emma, Bruno loved his focus while Carrie Ann said it was not his best performance.

No one was eliminated tonight due to Kim’s exit from the show. But we did learn that Andy and Allison and Paula and Louis were both in jeopardy.

Scores after tonight’s performances:

  • Nick & Sharna- 36/40
  • Alexa & Mark- 36/40
  • Alek & Lindsay- 33/40
  • Tamar & Val- 33/40
  • Bindi & Derek- 32/40
  • Carlos & Whitney- 31/40
  • Hayes & Emma- 30/40
  • Andy & Allison- 29/40
  • Gary & Anna- 25/40
  • Paula & Louis- 20/40
