So you are watching a movie that seems good, and then suddenly you realize you picked one of those movies that have THE worst endings. Your movie was on point for an hour or two when suddenly things just take a turn for the worst. I don’t know about you, but usually want to throw something at the screen. I’ll save you the bad karma. Check out our list of movies that have the worst endings.
Good Movies That Have The Worst Endings
Signs
Signs is a 2002 science fiction thriller film starring Mel Gibson, Joaquin Phoenix, Abigail Breslin and Rory Culkin. The overall movie plot surrounds a family that is witness to an alien invasion. However, the ending sees an alien attacker smack in the middle of the family’s living room.
Castaway
Castaway is a 2000 adventure drama film starring Tom Hanks, Helen Hunt and Nick Searcy. Tom Hanks’ character, Chuck Noland, finally gets off the island which he was stranded on for a really excruciatingly long time, only to find that his girlfriend has moved on with the dentist. Terrible!
Saw 3
Saw 3 is a 2006 horror movies that stars Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith, Angus Macfadyen, Bahar Soomekh and Dina Meyer. The first Saw film ended with a diabolical twist but this one just ends with a bloody mess and the killing of one of the film’s favorites. Blech, at least give us a twist at the end if they are in pieces!
Return of the Jedi
The Return of the Jedi is a 1983 epic space movie starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams. It is the 3rd film in the Star Wars movie franchise. The movie ends with dancing Ewoks. Dancing Ewoks! I feel like I’m in a Muppet movie, I had to include the actual dancing Ewoks instead of the trailer this time. I know some may disagree for the love of Star Wars, but it killed the whole movie.
The Forgotten
The Forgotten is a 2004 sci-fi psychological thriller film that stars Julianne Moore and Dominic West. The movie plot surrounds the disappearance of a woman’s little boy after a plane crash over a year ago. The movie has a stupid ending, resulting in the discovery that Telly Paretta’s (Julianne Moore) child was kidnapped by aliens. It’s like they didn’t even try, we’ll just chalk it up to aliens and move on.

Cast Away, Signs, Return of the Jedi… yep! They all have really bad endings. I hate that you’ve spent the entire time sitting and watching only for the movie to turn out bad. Total waste of time, indeed.
I 100% agree with Signs. That was horrible! But not as horrible as Shyamalan’s remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender. How do you take something so epic and just completely ruin it?
I could not agree more about the ending of Signs. I remember ranting and raving about how disappointing the ending was after I first saw it and no one agreed. Glad to see someone vindicate me!
