• This is the 2^nd movie that Eva Green has starred in with Tim Burton as the director. Previously, he directed the 2012 movie Dark Shadows, where Eva Green played the role of Angelique Bouchard.
• In the 2011 book of the same name written by Ransom Riggs, the character of Dr. Golan is a male, but in the movie the character is female, played by Allison Janney.

• Filming for the movie took place in Florida as well as London and Belgium.
• The theater release date for the movie was changed 3 times. Originally, it was due to be released on July 31, 2015. Then, the date was changed to March 4, 2016, later changed to December 25, 2016 and finally its current release date.
• The first movie trailer was released on September 3, 2015. The reason this date was chosen is because in the book, the date of September 3^rd is an important element in the plot.
