I was so excited to receive two awesome Mega Bloks Skylanders Swap Force toys for kids for review. My son is a huge fan Skylanders, starting back when the standard set came out.  He has pretty much every regular Skylander and Skylander Giant ever made. Now we’re working our way through the new Swap Force characters.

While he’s waiting to complete his collection of Skylanders Swap Force characters, he’s really enjoying playing with the Mega Bloks Skylanders Swap Force toys for kids. He loves them because they feature all his favorite Skylanders. I love them because they encourage him to think creatively. As much as I’m a fan of the video game myself, toys for kids like these really encourage imagination. Kids can build on the scenes in the game, but ultimately, they control the direction of the “scene.”

If you haven’t heard of Skylanders Swap Force yet, let me give you a brief overview. The game is the third in the Skylanders series, which itself is sort of a spin-off of the highly popular Spyro games. It comes with a “portal of power” that connects with each of the toy characters. They have some sort of chip in them. I’m not sure of the technical details. In the past, you got one character and slapped it on the portal. That character entered the game and came with different powers. It was pretty cut and dry, limiting you to what you had on hand.

With Skylanders Swap Force, some of the characters come in two pieces. You can swap heads and bodies, creating entirely new characters. This opens up nearly endless possibilities, making the game even more fun than it was before. Mega Bloks Skylanders Swap Force toys for kids also add that fun spin into their kits. Each character can be swapped out with parts of other characters.

For example, we received Swash Buckler and Magna Charge. When we swap out the heads on the body, we can create Swash Charge and Magna Buckler. Like the game on which they’re based, this means we can have endless fun with the Mega Bloks Skylanders Swap Force toys for kids. Jacob loves that each of the characters are super-sized! I love that he can play with all his favorites without worrying about him somehow breaking the magical chip inside the actual game pieces.

Like the Mega Bloks Hot Wheels, the sets came with crystal-clear instructions, making it easy for kids to assemble. Mega Bloks are built to really last. I find that they don’t come apart too easily, so I don’t have to worry about constantly reassembling them. They’re made to actually be played with, not just assembled and stared at.
