Halloween At Dancing with the Stars- Week 7 #DWTS

TOM BERGERON, LEAH REMINI: TOM BERGERON, ALEK SKARLATOS, LINDSAY ARNOLD: halloween at Dancing with the stars season 21 week 7 recap

This week at Dancing with The Stars, season 21, week 7,  we still have our partner dances, but we also have the team dances this week too. Since it is so close to Halloween, the team dances have a spooky theme. Leah Remini will be co-hosting, replacing Erin Andrews for this week again. Read our Dancing With The Stars recap to get caught on the highlights of yesterday’s show.

So, here are our teams of Dancing With The Stars, season 21, week 7

Team Bindi- Team “Who You Gonna Call?”- Song is the theme from the movie Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr. Team Bindi consists of:

  • Bindi and Derek
  • Alexa and Mark
  • Carlos and Witney
  • Alek and Lindsay

Team Nick- Team “Nightmare”- Song is “This is Halloween” from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. Team Nick consists of:

So, tonight’s show starts off with pros and troupe, performing a routine to The Monster Mash, decked out in full costume. It is time to get the show started!

Nick and Sharna- Argentine Tango

Nick has been getting better each week but tonight, he is just messy out there. The beginning was just messy as far as his footwork. You can tell that Nick is giving this routine his all, but it was definitely one of his weaker dances of the season.

  • Carrie Ann: 8- It was kind of sloppy at times
  • Julianne: 8- His sharp movements were clunky
  • Bruno: 8- Agreed with Julianne

Total: 24/30

Hayes and Emma- Waltz

EMMA SLATER, HAYES GRIER, PAULA DEEN, LOUIS VAN AMSTEL: TOM BERGERON, LEAH REMINI: TOM BERGERON, ALEK SKARLATOS, LINDSAY ARNOLD: halloween at Dancing with the stars season 21 week 7 recap

I really think Hayes has come a long ways in this competition. He does admit that he feels overwhelmed this week since the Waltz is a mature dance and he is still a young lad. However, I am impressed with how well he is doing out there. The steps are great, the glides are great, great job Hayes.

  • Carrie Ann: 8- He needs to keep his head up more
  • Julianne: 9- Called Hayes a leading man tonight
  • Bruno: 9- It was beautiful

Total: 26/30

Alexa and Mark- Paso Double

I really like the pairing of these two. During rehearsals this week, Alexa broke down a few times because she just wasn’t getting the steps but as always, Mark is there to console her. Overall, she didn’t do too badly, it wasn’t her best by any means but still an improvement from last week. Kudos to Mark as well for the amazing choreography.

  • Carrie Ann: 9- Alexa danced without thinking; very proud
  • Julianne: 9- Liked the routine but needs consistency throughout
  • Bruno: 9- It was great

Total: 27/30

Tamar and Val- Foxtrot

In the beginning, I really liked Tamar but as the weeks go on, she just isn’t impressing me at all. She suddenly thinks she is better than everyone else. She even came right out and stated tonight she was the best dancer left. Yeah, I really don’t think so but hey she is entitled to think that if she wants. Since the beginning of this competition, there has been no chemistry between these two and it really shows on the dance floor. Tonight was really no exception. Overall, Tamar did a nice job with the routine but she needs to be more in-sync with Val.

  • Carrie Ann: 8- Sees some growth but still a lot of mistakes for Week 7
  • Julianne: 8- Noticed a mistake in the beginning
  • Bruno: 8- She did miss some passes

Total: 24/30

Andy and Allison- Paso Double

Allison wants to show a different side of Andy with this week’s routine. She wants this Paso Double to be more of a contemporary routine. However, while that isn’t a bad thing necessarily, I do think Allison just went too far, adding too much. Andy did really well with the Paso Double, but Allison just cut it too close this week, in my opinion.

  • Carrie Ann: 9- It worked but does agree with Bruno
  • Julianne: 9- Felt it was awesome
  • Bruno: 8- Andy lost the shaping on the dance

Total: 26/30

Bindi and Derek- Argentine Tango

I wish I had just half of the energy that this girl has. I love her. This dance worked well, especially since Derek is one of the best at choreographing an Argentine Tango. These two continue to impress week after week. Great job again tonight!

  • Carrie Ann: 10- Bowed to Bindi for her performance
  • Julianne: 10- Strong and deep rooted dance
  • Bruno: 10- Called it spellbinding dance magic

Total: 30/30

Alek and Lindsay- Viennese Waltz

TOM BERGERON, ALEK SKARLATOS, LINDSAY ARNOLD: halloween at Dancing with the stars season 21 week 7 recap

I like Alek. He is a true hero to us all. He puts everything he has into each routine. I do think that he believes the judges are sometimes hard on him, though. I don’t know if he is just frustrated this week, but rehearsals didn’t exactly go well. Lindsay was even getting frustrated with him for not giving it his all. However, when it came time to step out on the dance floor, Alek did really well. I think the slower paced songs work best for him. Lindsay did an amazing job on the choreography too.

  • Carrie Ann: 9- Said the contender has returned
  • Julianne: 8- Commended him for working on his facial expressions
  • Bruno: 8- Loved the performance

Total: 25/30

Carlos and Witney- Paso Double

Carlos is a great dancer and a fast learner. He struggles with some routines more than others, but so does everyone else pretty much. He does a stunning job with this Paso Double. He definitely as chemistry with Witney and the passion comes out in this dance. Very nice job!

  • Carrie Ann: 9- He may have anticipated the beat too much
  • Julianne: 10- He nailed it tonight
  • Bruno: 9- It was close to perfect, except Carlos lost balance in the beginning

Total: 28/30

And that wraps up the partner dances for Dancing With The Stars, season 21, week 7.

Now, it’s on to the team dances!

Team Nick is up first!

Rehearsals didn’t go that well a time or two. Allison and Val had a hard time with choreography, Nick felt that time wasn’t on their side and Hayes is nervous about messing the dance up. However, you couldn’t tell any of that went on tonight. WOW! Everyone did a great job with the routine, the costumes were awesome and just a great job by all.

  • Carrie Ann: 10- It was amazing
  • Julianne: 10- Loved the choreography; Hayes stood out
  • Bruno: 10- Thought it was a Broadway show

Total: 30/30 for Team Nick

Team Bindi is up next!

Team Bindi did much better in rehearsals that Team Nick. Everyone had fun and they are all confident in their routine. Team Bindi did very well, with a fun opening and terrific pairings. However, overall I think Team Nick did slightly better.

  • Carrie Ann: 9- Girls were not in sync
  • Julianne: 10- Didn’t notice the off-sync
  • Bruno: 9- Noticed one of the girls was off-sync

Total: 28/30 for Team Bindi

I have to note here that this is the first time Derek has ever lost a team dance. Poor Derek!

It is the time everyone has dreaded all night: the elimination! Tonight, there are three couples in jeopardy: Hayes and Emma, Tamar and Val, Alexa and Mark. Ultimately it is Hayes and Emma that are the couple eliminated this week.
