Get the tissues handy for these Gifted movie quotes! We have a feeling this one is going to be a heartbreaker! Gifted is an upcoming drama movie that will hit theaters on April 12, 2017. The movie tells the story of Frank Adler, who is in a heated custody battle with his mother, Evelyn Adler, regarding Frank’s niece, Mary Adler. Here are some awesome quotes from the movie Gifted.

Conversation between Mary Adler and Frank Adler, regarding Mary not wanting to attend school:

Mary- “Please don’t make me go, you can keep homeschooling me.”

Frank- “I taught you everything I know. No more argument, okay? We discussed this ad nauseam.”

Mary- “What’s ad nauseam?”

Frank- “You don’t know? Well, it looks like someone needs school.”

 

Conversation between Bonnie Stevenson, Mary’s teacher and Mary:

Bonnie- “Who can tell me what three plus three is?” (addressing the class)

Mary- “Everyone knows it’s six.”

Bonnie- “Mary, can you stand up please? Can you tell me what fifty-seven multiplied by one hundred and thirty-five is?”

Mary pauses to sigh heavily.

Bonnie- “Okay. Who can…”

Mary- “Seven thousand six hundred and ninety-five. The square root is eighty-seven point seven, and change. Now what does ad nauseam mean?”

Bonnie checks the answer on a calculator and realizes that Mary is gifted in Math.

Conversation between Mary and Frank:

Mary- “Who’s that lady in the front of our door?”

Frank- “That would be your grandmother.”

Frank is referring to his mother, Evelyn Adler, played by actress Lindsay Duncan.

 

Conversation between Frank and Evelyn Adler, Frank’s mother:

Frank- “You’re going to take that girl, you’re going to loan her out to some think tank where she can talk nontrivial zeros with a bunch of old Russian guys for the rest of her life.”

Evelyn- “And you’d bury her under a rock.”

Frank wants to raise Mary as a normal child, as his late sister, Diane, would have wanted. However, Evelyn, believes raising her in a standard environment would destroy her genius abilities.

 

In court, Frank, Aubrey Highsmith, Evelyn’s attorney and Greg Cullen, Frank’s attorney:

Frank- “My sister wanted Mary to be a kid, she wanted her to have friends and to be happy.”

Aubrey- “Tell us, do you have health insurance?”

Frank- “No.”

Aubrey- “Did you spend the night in jail?”

Greg- “Objection!”

Frank and Evelyn are in court, fighting over custody of Mary. Frank knows his late sister, Diane, Mary’s mother, would want Mary living a normal life, but Evelyn, wants to exploit her giftedness. Aubrey Highsmith is played by actor John Finn and Greg Cullen is played by actor Glenn Plummer.
