Ah, Toby. He’s one of the most mysterious guys on Pretty Little Liars, you definitely have to give him that! He’s been accused of murder, of being A, and of just plain being up to no good. He’s been on the wrong side of the law and he WAS the law. He did a brief stint as a Rosewood PD rookie, but turned in his badge a few episodes into the 6th season. Like all the characters in Pretty Little Liars, Toby has a few enemies. Let’s check them out!

Toby’s Biggest Enemies on Pretty Little Liars
Garrett
Garrett was a former police officer for the Rosewood Police Department. He was initially assigned to investigate the murder case of Alison. Circumstances led to Garrett being charged with not only Alison’s murder but Maya’s as well. He was eventually being cleared of both charges. He knew many secrets that he was going to tell Spencer, Toby’s girlfriend, but was murdered by A before he could do so. Garrett was also part of a high school club known as the N.A.T. Club, which means We See All in Latin. The group consisted of Jason, Ian and Garrett and they would all film teenage girls in town through their bedroom windows. Each member of the group had some type of connection to Spencer. Jason is her half-brother, Ian is her brother-in-law and they dated and Garrett had romantic feelings for her. All of the members also had a connection with Spencer’s sister, Melissa as well. Jason once kissed Melissa, Ian dated then later married Melissa and Garrett dated Melissa prior to his arrest.
Alison
Toby and Alison were friends at one time and almost kissed once too. However, their friendship turned sour and they became bitter enemies. Alison blackmailed Toby into taking the heat for an incident involving Jenna or she would tell everyone about their relationship. Toby was sent to a juvenile detention center after his confession. Alison and Toby were at his house once when his mother woke up at 4:00 in the afternoon. Alison told Toby his mom was lazy, he said she was rude and told her to leave and she told Toby he was a loser. Later, Toby was a suspect in Alison’s death, but was eventually cleared of the charges.

Jenna
Jenna forced Toby into having a sexual relationship with her but when he insisted that the relationship end, Jenna was not happy. She threatened him by saying she would tell the whole town that he is the one who forced himself on her.
Red Coat
In season 4, Alison is confirmed to be Red Coat but says that A is also after her and she wears the red coat as a disguise. In the next season, it shows Red Coat appearing to Emily for a second time. The first time, Alison had CeCe disguise as Red Coat so that A would be distracted enough so Alison could turn the saw off and save Emily. This time, Emily is in her car, planning to meet up with Toby. Emily sees Red Coat go into the place Toby works, which scares off Red Coat. It is thought that Red Coat lured Emily to the meeting by using Toby’s phone.
As far as enemies go on Pretty Little Liars, Toby actually has it pretty good. Technically, you could say that A is also his enemy, because he/she/it is also his girlfriend’s biggest enemy, but aside from a minor attempt on his life here and there, A really doesn’t seem to focus much on Toby. He can also be his own worst enemy when it comes to his relationship with Spencer. He expects complete honesty, but gets a bit judgy when it’s given.
Interesting story line! I have never seen the show, but it looks like it would be a fun show to watch with all the twists.
I’ve read most of the books, but I never could get into the TV show. I guess it’s because the characters didn’t match the ones in my head. 🙂
I have not seen any episodes of this TV show, ssounds very interesting. If only I have the time to watch TV.
I do not know who Toby is and whether or not he’s got more enemies that the ones you’ve mentioned. LOL. I heard about how nice this show is but I just don’t have time to watch TV series yet. Maybe next year when I’ve adjusted to having a new addition in the family. 😀 hope I’ll find Pretty Little Liars on Netflix that time.
I love pretty little liars, and I love your posts about the characters! Just brings me back to the drama, and how much I miss watching the show!
I have never seen this show but my niece loves it. I think this show would compare to 90210 from my days. Lol.
Unfortunately, I can’t relate to this post because I have never seen an episode of this show!! Apparently though, it’s all the rage!
i need to watch this show! I’ve heard about them everywhere . Sounds like a great TV Show!
Wow from what I can tell this guys is all over the place. I’ll have to ask what my daughter thinks of this character.
Toby is one of my favorite characters. I love how everyone hated him and thought he was A and he proved them all wrong about who he was.
I love Toby. At first I was a little bit skeptical about him but once he started dating Spencer I warmed up to him. Now I really, really like him!
I’ve never watched this show but I’ve heard a lot about it. I know the fans are so serious about this show and that is how I know about it. lol
This is one of my favorite shows! I really didn’t care for Toby at the beginning (he was creepy!) but now I really like him. I hope he isn’t killed off.
I haven’t watched the show but it looks like something my teenage niece would watch. Looks interesting!
Another great background history for when I start to watch it. Really like this series!
Really wish I watched Pretty Little Liars. So many of my friends are addicted to it. Wonder if old episodes are on Netflix or Hulu. I should look.
I don’t watch this show that much. I’ve tried to get into it but I just couldn’t. It looks like an interesting show though.
My Daughter and i have been loving this show. We are still in shock from how the last episode ended. I am looking forward to the new season.
I haven’t seen this show so I am not really sure what is going on. I bet my daughter would enjoy this show.
Not familiar with this character or actor, but he does remind me of a young Joaquin Phoenix. This show has a lot of layers to it, doesn’t it?
