Before I get into the Play-Doh Double Desserts Sweet Shoppe review, I want to tell you a little story. When I got pregnant, I started thinking about all the fun toys I could finally play with again. Play-Doh was at the top of my list! I couldn’t wait until that magical moment when my son would be old enough to start playing with it. In fact, while Play-Doh is for kids ages 3 and up, I didn’t quite make it to the three-year mark! We started using Play-Doh when he was about 2 and a half, under my close supervision.
Over the years, I’ve gotten Jacob pretty much every single Play-Doh play set that they make. When the Play-Doh Double Desserts Sweet Shoppe arrived on my doorstep in the same package as the summer fun summer toys from Hasbro, I quickly cleared a spot on my outdoor table- and my calender- to spend time with Jake playing. Now, let me tell you, Jake is usually pretty stingy with sharing the Play-Doh. Typically, he gets all of it minus a tiny little piece that he breaks off for me. Enough to roll around between my thumb and pointer finger. Nice kid, right? Well, I told him since I was doing the Play-Doh Double Desserts Sweet Shoppe review, I HAD to play with more! Ha! Take that!
Play-Doh Double Desserts Sweet Shoppe Review
The Play-Doh Double Desserts Sweet Shoppe is so much fun to play with for boys, girls and Mommy. Basically, it’s set up like a little dessert shop. It comes with the little “oven” that you use to create the basic shape of your dessert, an “icing” tool to pipe Play-Dog icing onto your cakes and a ton of molds all over the shoppe for extra special touches. It also has four cans of Play-Doh, two of which are Play-Doh Plus. If you haven’t had a chance to check out Play-Doh Plus yet (this was a first for me), basically, it’s softer and brighter, so it makes more realistic looking icing!
Creating your cake is as easy as choosing a mold, filling it, putting it in the baking chamber and pressing down to the top. It will “ding” like a real oven when you’ve pressed down far enough. Then it’s time to make your icing!
Jake filled the chamber with yellow Play-Doh Plus to get his creation ready. Yes, by the way, I have since gotten his hair cut! Just in case you’re thinking “wow, that boy needs a hair cut!”
Check out how easily the Play-Doh comes out of the piping tool. Your child will love being able to get their creations exactly the way they want them!
The finished results were adorable. Jake made the one with the heart just for me. Isn’t he so sweet? As soon as I said I had enough material for the Play-Doh Double Desserts Sweet Shoppe review, he promptly took all the Play-Doh away from me to make his own mad creations. At this point, he was given permission to mix the colors. I decided long ago that I would not be one of those moms who goes nuts when the colors get mixed. Extra Play-Doh cans are so inexpensive that, if I really need a specific color, I can always go pick up a new one. Jake loves mixing the colors and coming up with his own marbled creations.
