Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show Highlights And Recap
Coldplay was the scheduled headline act though in my opinion it was clearly Beyoncé who stole the show. This is something that really shouldn’t surprise anyone since she is a halftime performer veteran. Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin didn’t exactly wow us and dress for the occasion. You can see Martin in the middle. You can’t miss him; he’s the only one not in something showy and spectacular?
I mean this is the Super Bowl, one of the largest television events of the year, and what did Martin wear? He wore grungy black pants with a white t-shirt of some sorts and a jacket that was trying to be cool but only wore for half the show. Come on Martin, I expect better as the headliner.
Coldplay opened the halftime show with their hit song, Viva La Vida, but the noise of the crowd actually drowned them out. That’s not to say that they are not great performers because they really are. They have tons of energy, but the stadium just seemed to overtake their lyrics. Coldplay also performed Yellow and Paradise, which came complete with a marching band that wore orange and pink uniforms which were fun and upbeat. When Martin took the stage for the final time at the end of the show, with Bruno Mars and Beyoncé to sing Mars’ hit song, Uptown Funk, it looked more like he was auditioning for a karaoke competition.
Coldplay just didn’t hit the mark for a halftime show. I am not sure why they were even named headliners when Beyoncé was also performing. Did they really think that Coldplay would outshine Beyoncé? Yeah, that is not likely to happen ever.
Bruno Mars was dressed all in black, with gold chains around his neck. Mark Ronson started off the set with Uptown Funk, elevated over the crowd. Mars joined in and did an amazing job getting the crowd pumped, but I think it was clear Beyoncé took the stage and slayed.
Beyoncé looked sexy as always. She donned a black outfit that featured a long sleeve jacket with gold stripes and fishnet stockings. The outfit was a tribute to the 1993 outfit Michael Jackson wore during his Super Bowl halftime performance though there are rumors circulating that the dress of the dancers was also in support of Black Lives Matter.
Beyonce took the stage to perform her brand new song, Formation. The performance came complete with erupting flamethrowers on the field behind her. The crowd held up signs that read Believe in Love, which took up a good portion of the stadium seats. Beyoncé also took the opportunity to announce her world tour, Formation which is going to be amazing! Guess this also squashes rumors of her being pregnant for now, I doubt she would be going on tour knowing she is pregnant, but stranger things have happened.
See the performance for yourself, including the end where Beyonce and Bruno Mars and throwing down. Martin, unfortunately, looks like the friend who tagged along. It’s too bad, I like Coldplay as an artist but not this performance at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show.

Beyonce seriously pulled this dance routine off like a boss. At one point she almost fell but managed to hold it together while staying IN TIME TO THE MUSIC. Why? Because she’s Beyonce.

It is worth noting that before the game started, Lady Gaga delivered a beautiful rendition of The Star Spangled Banner. She totally slayed this performance, donned in a red outfit with blue nails, and red eye glitter. Can I get a pair of those Gucci flag shoes she wore? The whole outfit and performance were seriously amazing that left many fans blown away by her amazing voice. I guess during her meat dress days, it was hard to hear around her art sometimes. While I can appreciate her media moves in the past, I love this version of Lady Gaga where we truly get to see her music shine.
Love this half time show! It’s definitely one of the best and who wouldn’t love it? It’s Beyonce! It’s nice to see they paid tribute to Michael Jackson and of course show that they are in full support of the LGBT Community.
I have never heard of Superbowl events. However, it sounds very interesting. Great read.
I really enjoyed this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. I don’t usually tune in to the Super Bowl, but my husband happened to be into it this year and I’m glad he was and that I decided to watch with him. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have seen the incredible performance Beyonce gave, and Lady Gaga’s performance was beautiful.
